Welcome
the organizations mission:
The Mo. Valley region has suffered 100 thousand acres of vital migratory habitat loss and we believe that this regions waterfowlers and other like minded wetland & waterfowl conservationist can make a significant impact in improving migratory habitat. From restoration, enhancement, protection & management. Below are just 4 major things the New Organization will focus on to help restore this once great Migratory corridor.
The Organization will work to develop a Temporary Migratory Habitat Incentives Program. This program will create an incentives structure that will pay producers X number of dollars to pump or retain 3 to 6 inches of water on harvested crop stubble during the fall migratory period. Note it's not meant to cover a whole farming operations acreage but just a small area. Note in a lot of cases when it comes to traditional wetland restoration efforts much of the Iowa landscape & Nebraska landscape in the Mo. valley will never be able to be restored based on present and future land use. In areas where traditional restoration efforts have failed to be implemented is where this program and habitat program can be applied. Note in order for success out on the landscape the regions farmers are vital to the programs future and the Organization is certainly looking forward to having the regions farmers as strong partners and allies in Waterfowl Conservation Habitat Management in the region.

The picture above displays temporary migratory habitat conditions.
We shall Support the North America Wetlands Conservation Act efforts with in the Mo. Valley region of Iowa & Nebraska. (NAWCA) This program is responsible for projects like the Owego wetland complex shown below. The organization will seek to raise the necessary revenues needed to support permanent wetland restoration efforts with in the region. This program is responsible for restoring wetland and upland habitat with a ratio of 3 to 1. 3 acres of upland for every 1 acre of wetland. Please note that the match ration is 3 to 1. For every dollar we are able to generate for the program in the region ,it will be matched by 3 more dollars. This is done by Joint Partnerships.

The Organization will seek to support WRP efforts with in the region by contributing to the incentive structure of WRP.The left picture is the before and the right picture is the after picture of a WRP project. Thousands
of these very small wetlands have been lost in the region and they are extremely vital migratory
habitat during the fall and spring of the year.

One of the most vital programs that is to be created is the "Wetlands & Waterfowl Migratory Habitat Endowment Fund." This fund over time will help support the Organizations major programs and potentially take on new initiatives. The vital thing to understand is that it will provide long term security for the Organizations Mission. Gradually we shall grow this funds ability and gradually expand the said programs themselves and the ability to reach more of the Mo. Valley Landscape.
